I am a harpsichordist and organist, specializing in the music of Bach and the Baroque Period, but also performing the music of later periods as well. In my first life I concertized throughout the U.S., did several concert tours of Germany, and taught at colleges in eastern Pennsylvania. During this time I also recorded CDs here and abroad, the first of which was named to the Critics’ Choice List of Gramophone magazine. My introduction to Covington occurred when the Cincinnati Chapter of the American Guild of Organists invited me to play a Bach recital in their 1999-2000 concert series, commemorating the 250th anniversary year of Bach’s death. The venue for the recital was Trinity Church in Covington, with its beautiful baroque-style organ. I recall walking along Sixth St. in the Mainstrasse Village during my stay, and enjoying the antique show that was taking place that weekend. Little did I suspect that six years later I would be renovating a property a few blocks away on Pike St.
In my second life, I moved to Covington to start a business with my partner Rick Hoffman, who is a potter. Following the completion of renovations, the second floor of our Pike Street building will house the New Fair Gallery (a community-based art gallery) as well as my music studio, where I will continue to teach harpsichord and organ students. I continue to remain active as a musician, but on a less ambitious scale, serving as organist for a large Presbyterian church in Cincinnati. |
